<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain degradation of an electron emitting characteristic, further improve its service life, and prevent a characteristic change by sealing gas of an organic substance having average staying time shorter than a driving period in a vessel of an image forming device. SOLUTION: An image forming device is arranged in a vacuum vessel 47 composed of a face plate 46, a support frame 42 and a rear plate 41. Electron emitting elements 34 are arranged in a plurality on a base board 31 fixed to the rear plate 41, and a fluorescent screen 44 and a metal back 45 or the like are formed on an inside surface of a glass substrate 43 of the face plate 46. The rear plate 41 and the face plate 46 are joined to the support frame 42 by using frit glass or the like having a low melting point. X directional wiring 32 and Y directional wiring 33 are connected to a pair of element electrodes of a surface transmission electron emitting element. Gas of an organic substance whose partial pressure is not less than 1×10<-6> Pa is sealed in the vacuum vessel 47, and its whole pressure is not more than 1×10<-3> Pa.</p> |
