Geospatial sphere. Consists of a translucent globe (fig. 1) containing a circular screen 1 with one side lit up 15, 16 which, secured by the hinge 4 to the centre of the shaft 2 of the sphere, carries out two simultaneous movements: a 360- degree rotation on the shaft 2 reproducing the succession of night and day and another oscillation movement of 46 degrees 54 minutes on the hinge 4 simulating the progress of the seasons. The perimeter of the screen 1 marks the changing separation of the light and dark area of the globe. The sun's image 15 indicates the point where the sun is at the zenith, further enabling its height at midday to be calculated at any location. It has teaching, scientific and ornamental applications. It admits of variants according to whether it is circumscribed by a celestial sphere, according to the shape and fastening of the screen 1 and according to whether cylindrical or conical projections are made of the original sphere. <IMAGE>
