PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of reproducing plural kinds of optical disks with different wavelengths. SOLUTION: For reproducing the optical disks with different wavelengths, plural pieces of semiconductor lasers 1, 7 emitting light of the wavelengths required for reproducing the optical disks are provided, and for making the light outgoing from the laser light sources 1, 7 incident on recording layers of the optical disks 2a, 2b, a light branch body 4 consisting of a birefringent crystal is arranged on the outgoing areas of the light outgoing from the laser light sources 1, 7. By making either one side light between the light branched to two kinds of the advance directions while transmitting through the light branch body 4 incident on the optical disks 2a, 2b, the light is reflected by the recording layer to be made incident on a photodetector 10 through a beam splitter 5. The photodetector 10 converts the incident light to a current to reproduce recording information on the optical disk according to its strength. |
