PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image processing unit by which an electronic zoom function is easily controlled, image quality deterioration is prevented and image data with high position resolution are stored. SOLUTION: An optical image is photoelectric-converted into a video signal by a CCD 1 and once written in an image memory 4 as an image data signal via an analog signal processing section 2 and an A/D converter section 3. The image data read from the image memory 4 are converted into an analog output image signal by a D/A converter section 6 in a prescribed timing via a digital signal processing section 5 and displayed on a monitor 7. A sampling clock sampling an input image signal in the A/D converter section 3 is fed to a variable sampling clock generating section 8, and the sampling frequency is variably controlled through magnification and reduction setting at a magnification setting section 10 via a system control section 9.
