PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an occupant within an automobile cabin by compressing a first capacity part by the first part of the body of the occupant, and pushing at least a part of expanding gas into a second capacity part. SOLUTION: A cushion 10 is arranged in an optional position within a cabin capable of providing air bag passive type constraint. The cushion has a substantially L-shape, and the leg part of L is formed of an extension part 20. The vertical part of L comprises a first capacity part 22 directly communicating with the extension part 20. The vertical part comprises a second capacity part 24 communicating with the first capacity part, and the first and second capacity parts are mutually partitioned along a boundary 26. At use, the first capacity part 22 is expanded with a large quantity of gas, but the second capacity part is not expanded. As the first capacity part is compressed by an occupant to damp the force of the cushion, the gas is pushed into the second capacity part to expand it. The occupant is compressed and protected by the second capacity part. Thus, the occupant can be safety protected.
|
