<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance an optical pointing device by eliminating movable parts without impairing the operability of the pointing device, thereby preventing durability from being reduced due to abrasion, dirt or the like. SOLUTION: In this optical pointing device 1 in which plural photocouplers 3 are arranged on the horizontal sides 2a and vertical sides 2b of a rectangular operation surface 2 at a prescribed pitch so that respective working lines 3c, are closed orthogonally the moving distance and direction of a light shielding pointing rod 10 to be moved on the operation surface 2 are detected by these photocouplers 3 and an index is moved on the screen of a computer based on the corresponding moving distance and direction, movable parts are eliminated without impairing the operability of the pointing device to prevent durability from being reduced due to abrasion, dirt or the like.</p> |
