PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small projection liquid crystal display device which produces a bright picture with a good picture performance by providing the first lens array in which plural lenses are vertically arranged with respect to an optical axis from a light source side and a second lens array. SOLUTION: A lighting means 2 consists of a light source 1, an elliptic surface mirror 5 and spherical surface mirrors 6. The light beams emitted from the source 1 are reflected by the mirror 5 and the mirrors 6, pass a first lens array 22 and a second lens array 23 and made incident on a condenser lens 7. The lens 7 has a positive refractive index and further converges the beams emitted from the means 2. The beams passed through the lens 7 are made incident on liquid crystal display elements 3. The beams passed through the elements 3 are made incident on a field lens 8 which is a zoom lens. Then, the beams are made incident on a projection means 4 by the lens 8, pass through the means 4 and reach to a screen 9. Thus, a bright picture is obtained having a good picture performance. |
