PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt retractor with an emergency lock mechanism capable of securely preventing an end lock of the retractor from occurring without possible lowering in locking function. SOLUTION: This retractor comprises; lock means for stopping the rotation of a bobbin in the direction of reeling out a webbing, a ratchet wheel 18 for actuating the lock means by a delay in rotation relative to the bobbin, a lock arm 26 pivoted for swinging on the ratchet wheel 18 and capable of stopping the rotation of the ratchet wheel 18 in the webbing reel-out direction by the engagement with an internal tooth gear 34a, and an inertia plate 30 for causing the lock arm 26 to swing in the direction of engaging with the internal tooth gear 34a by a delay in rotation when more than a prescribed amount of rotation occurs in the webbing reel-out direction. A contact area 32 of the inertia plate 30 is provided with cam surfaces 32a, 32b for causing the lock arm 26 to swing in the direction of engaging with the internal tooth gear 34a after the rotation delay of the inertia plate 30 reaches a prescribed amount relative to a bobbin 3. |
