METHOD FOR PREVENTING ILLEGAL USE OF MAGNETIC CARD AND CARD READER USING THE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of heat at an erasing head by making an intermittent current generating an erasing magnetic field erasing at least a part of magnetic information of a data track flow through the coil of the erasing head so as to reduce a power using quantity. SOLUTION: This method for preventing the illegal use of a magnetic card is provided with the erasing head erasing recorded data in the magnetic card 8 when this magnetic card 8 is pulled out after detecting the abnormality of the magnetic card 8 traveling within a card reader. In this case the erasing head confronts the data track of the magnetic card 8 and an intermittent current generating the erasing magnetic field erasing at least a part of magnetic information of the data track 9 is made to flow through the erasing head.
