PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intensify brightness and contrast. SOLUTION: Only P polarized light is caused to come into a light guide plate 2 by combining a polarization beam splitter 19, a reflection element 18, and the like, and only P polarized light is caused to come into a liquid crystal cell by combining them further with the light guide plate 2 capable of keeping a plane of polarization. With this, brightness and contrast of a liquid crystal display element are improved by enabling light from a light source 1 to come into the liquid crystal cell without a loss caused by a polarization filter. |
