The clamp (3) fits onto the tube so as to slide on it in the axial direction. The thin strip (4) forming the clamp has two ends (5) bent through 182 deg . The gap (6) between the strip and the ends at the bending points is of width equal to double the thickness of the tube wall. The clamp can have a flat tubular profile, the opening in which is double the width of the wall, and stiffening ribs (13) can be provided at the ends. The maximum wall thickness can be equal to the width of gap or opening.
