摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium which allows the reproduction of recording bits by separating the individual recording bits with high signal quality, even if the recording magnetic domain information of the parts existing in an intra-surface magnetized state is masked, and the adjacent recording bits enter the inside of the beam diameter of a condensed light beam. SOLUTION: A reproducing layer 1 is in the intra-surface magnetized state and attains a perpendicularly magnetized state at a temp. above the critical temp. A recording layer 4 is a perpendicularly magnetized film to be recorded with information. An intermediate layer 3 is a nonmagnetic film, formed between the reproducing layer 1 and a recording layer 4. The intra-surface magnetized layer 2 is adjacent to the reproducing layer 1, and the magnetization thereof decreases at the temp. near the critical temp., described above.
