PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Petri dish mounting equipment which stably mounts a plurality of kinds of Petri dishes different in size on the stage of a scanning type probe microscope. SOLUTION: This Petri dish mounting equipment has a main body 52 which is cylindrical and has a bottom. On the bottom surface, three semi-spherical legs 54 are formed at equal intervals on the same circumference. A circular aperture 56 which enables observation with an optical microscope is formed in the central part of the bottom plate 52a of the main body 52. A circular trench 58 having a small diameter and a circular trench 60 having a large diameter are formed on the upper surface of the bottom plate 52a of the main body 52. An upper surface 62 between the aperture 56 and the circular trench 58 is lower than an upper surface 64 between the circular trench 58 and the circular trench 60. The Petri dish mounting equipment has two holding mechanisms for holding Petri dishes at symmetric positions setting the center as reference. Each of the holding mechanisms has two threads 68 screwed to a side wall 52b, a slider 70 which is moved by the threads 68, and a pad 72 fixed to the slider 70.
