The assembly is used for the arm supporting a hard disc read/write head. The arm rotates about a transverse pivot (16), driven in rotation by a coil (20) moving inside a magnet at the outer end of the arm. A second supplementary drive (50) is positioned between the main coil and the arm itself to provide fine control of the position of the heads. The supplementary drive is a piezo-electric bar (56) which can provide minor deflections of the arm. The main coil is attached to the arm by two flexible strips (52,54) to allow relative movement between main drive coil and head arm. |
