PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert a card in a free state. SOLUTION: In this code reader, an ID card 1 on which multimedia information is printed as an optically readable two-dimensional code is manually moved along a scanning groove of this reader, while having a prescribed brought into contact with this scanning groove, thus optically reading this code. ID information 3 is printed on front and rear faces of the ID card 1, symmetrically with respect to the center line of the card in the scanning direction, and two optical systems 4a and 4c are so arranged, that they correspond to predetermined passage positions of a code, printed on the front or rear face of the ID card 1 to lead the reflected light from the ID information 3 printed on the front or rear face of the ID card 1 to a single area sensor 7 for code which is read at the time of manually moving the ID card 1 along the scanning groove. |
