PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant insulated wire which meets mechanical characteristics required for insulation material used for a wire and a cable, and has superior flame retardancy by using an inorganic flame retardant as a flame retardant. SOLUTION: A composition which is formed by mixing 50 to 300 parts by weight of magnesium hydroxide, and 5 to 100 parts by weight of frit softened in a range of 300 to 700 deg.C and crystallized at 700 deg.C or more to 100 parts by weight of polyolefine is coated on a conductor so as to form an insulation layer. The insulation layer is cross-linked. The polyolefine used here is ethylene butene copolymer, ethylene octane copolymer, ultra-low density polyethylene, or ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. The magnesium hydroxide is surface-treated by a silane coupling agent, and the frit is surface-treated by a resin suppressing the deterioration of water resistance. |
