<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure acceleration with high precision widely from micro- vibrations to a disastrous earthquake by allowing a piston to automatically follow the vibrations from the outside to be invariably positioned at the prescribed position in a cylinder, measuring the pressures in pressure chambers at this time, and using a specific equation. SOLUTION: A fluid is injected into the gap between a piston 1 and a cylinder 2 from a fluid feed hole 12, and the piston 1 is static pressure-supported in the cylinder 2. When vibrations are applied from the outside, the piston 1 tends to move relatively, a signal corresponding to the displacement of the piston 1 is fed to a controller from a position encoder 11, pressure adjustment sections 5, 6 are adjusted by the signal, and the piston 1 is allowed to automatically follow the vibrations to be invariably positioned at the center of the cylinder 2. Pressures in pressure chambers 3, 4 are measured by pressure sensors 7, 8, the pressure difference P is calculated, the mass (m) of the piston 1 and the area S of its pressure receiving face 1a are substituted in an equation, and the acceleration for the external vibrations can be measured.</p> |
