PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by unnecessitating requirement that all the resolution of three liquid crystal panels are made high even though the resolution on a screen is made high because the resolution of the liquid crystal panel is the same. SOLUTION: The polarization direction of a luminous flux emitted from a light source part 60 is converted into specified linear polarization by a polarization converting element A. The linearly polarized light is color-resolved by a color-resolving means 20 and made incident on three liquid panels 31, 32, and 33 for blue, red, and green components. The luminous fluxes transmitted through the respective panels 31 to 33 are synthesized by a synthesizing means 40, and projected on a screen 50 by means of a projecting lens 51. As to the panel 33 for green component; the resolution of a picture element is set higher than those of the another two panels 31 and 32. |
