<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color tone reproducibility, resolution and cleanability, to increase image density and to suppress fog by using a toner having specified mechanical strength. SOLUTION: This toner has 0.3-3.2kgf/mm<2> mechanical strength measured by a method represented by the formula, wherein P is load (kgf) causing 10% deformation and (d) is the particle diameter (mm) of the toner. It is produced, e.g. by mixing mother liquor for a toner contg. a bonding resin, a colorant and an org. solvent with an aq. soln. contg. a surfactant and an inorg. dispersant and then removing the org. solvent and water. The bonding resin is, e.g. a polyester resin or a vinyl polymer obtd. by polymerizing a polymerizable vinyl monomer such as styrene, its deriv. or an alkyl (meth)acrylate. The concn. of the solid components in the mother liquor is 25-55wt.%.</p> |
