<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device in which electron beams are uniformly outputted at a high speed from multi-electron sources equipped with many cold cathode elements that are matrix-wired, to provide a driving method for the device, and to provide a display device in which no fluctuation exists in luminance, the linearity of the gradation is superior, and the response speed is high. SOLUTION: The electron beam generator has muti-electron beam source 50 in which plural cold cathode elements are matrix wired using row and column wires, a scanning means 2 which is connected to the row wires and modulating means 10, 20 and 30 which are connected to the column wires. The means 10, 20 and 30 have a control current source 10 which supplies driving current pulses to the cold cathode elements, a voltage source 20 which speedingly changes up the parasitic capacitance of the source 50 and a charging voltage applying means 30 which electrically connects the voltage source and the column wires in synchronism with the rising of the driving current pulses.</p> |
