PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the enhanced image quality by generating area information corresponding to a pattern from an signal and changing the parameter quantity of enhance processing, in accordance with this information to realize more natural enhancement processing. SOLUTION: The enhancement processing is performed in a dynamic image system (consisting of means 4, 8, 10, 14, and 18) and a still image system (consisting of means 6, 12, 16, and 20), and the area information signal indicating the pattern is generated by area information generation circuits 18 and 20 in both systems respectively independently of each other. In the case of a still images, the area information signal is generated, in accordance with the edge signal outputted from the edge detection circuit 16 and the level signal outputted from the still interpolation processing circuit 6. In the case of a dynamic image, the area information signal is generated, in accordance with the one-frame difference signal and the two-frame difference signal outputted from the one- frame difference and two-frame difference signal generation circuit, the edge signal outputted from the edge detection signal 14, and the level signal outputted from the dynamic image interpolation processing circuit. |
