PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the light transmittance of a color filter. SOLUTION: In a color filter CF1 , diffusion plate 4 and a filter part 6 are arranged with a glass substrate 5 inbetween. Dichric mirrors 6a, 6b, and 6c constituting the filter part 6 allow only light of different specific wavelength areas to pass through an reflect light of other wavelength areas. When light is made incident on the dichroic mirror 6a from a light source part LS, only red light, for instance, is transmitted through but other (green and blue) light is reflected. Reflected light is diffused and reflected by the diffusion plate 4 and is made incident on the dichroic mirror 6b, and only green light is transmitted, and other blue light is reflected. This blue light is diffused and reflected by the diffusion plate 4 and is made incident on the dichroic mirror 6c and is transmitted. Since light reflected by each dichroic mirror is diffused and reflected by the diffusion plate 4 and is transmitted through another dichroic mirror, the transmittance is improved. |
