PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perfectly eliminate image history by electrically stirring and moving residual developer on a developer carrier. SOLUTION: In this developing device; the developer G on the developer carrier 1 is uniformized by a developer layer thickness regulating member 2, developing electric field 4 is allowed to act between a latent image carrier 3 and the developer carrier 1, and an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier 3 is developed with the developer G on the developer carrier 1. In such a case, a history eliminating member 5 is arranged to be opposed to the developer carrier 1 on the downstream side of the developing position and on the upstream side of the developer layer thickness regulating position of the developer carrier 1. The member 5 is equipped with a stirring electric field generating means 6 to electrically stirring and moving the residual developer G' on the developer carrier 1 (for instance, a spiral electrode 7 which goes along in the axial direction of the member 5 and on which alternating electric field is applied is formed on the surface of the member 5 in a state where the member 5 is rotated). Furthermore, the member 5 is equipped with a mechanical stirring means 8 according to need. |
