PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the utilizing rate of an active material by using spherical CoO or Co (OH)2 powder in a nickel electrode. SOLUTION: In this nickel electrode, an active material mix supported by a current collector has, an essential component, Ni(OH)2 powder and CoO or/and CO(OH)2 powder. As the CoO powder or CO(OH)2 powder, spherical or substantially spherical ones are used. Thus, the dispersing property in preparation of the mix paste is satisfactory since they are hardly mutually coagulated into a secondary coagulated body, and the uniform dispersion to the paste is facilitated. Since the secondary coagulation is hardly caused, the tap density is high, which contributes to the high density charging of the prepared blended paste to the current collector. Consequently, the charging density of the active material is also increased, and the utilizing rate is also enhanced. |
