PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To revise display of a display section in the selective calling receiver to be a character display optimum and easy to see on the display section. SOLUTION: A display control section 9 dsiplays character information data written by a control section 5 onto a display section 10. A plurality of character information data such as a display character size, display character interval data, and display line feed data are stored in a character data ROM 7 or an EEPROM section 14 and set automatically depending on the number of characters of a message by the control section 5 or selected by the user via the control section 5 with an external input means 15.
