METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTING CODED INTERLACE VIDEO CUT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the cut detection method and the device in which a cut is detected at a high speed accurately without decoding coded interlace video data by the field prediction system. SOLUTION: An inter-field similarity calculation means 1113 calculates a plurality of inter-field similarity sets for each field based on a reference field selection signal extracted without decoding processing from coded video data by a signal demultiplex means 1101. Two arithmetic means 1108, 1110 apply prescribed arithmetic operation to the inter-field similarity by several fields having already been calculated up to that point in time every time the inter-field similarity is calculated by one field. One of the means provides an output of a larger value when a cut is in existence between the frames and the other means provides an output of a larger value when a cut is in existence between the fields while taking a small value against noise such as flash or the like. Two comparison means decide it that a cut is in existence when each arithmetic operation result indicates a larger value than a prescribed value.
