RANGE FINDER, PHOTOGRAPHING DEVICE, AND BACKGROUND PROCESSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately extract a main object inside a rangefinding visual field at a high speed and to detect the image deviation amount or the distance of the main object part even though the object three-dimensionally exists in a wide field. SOLUTION: An image information detecting part 1 has a pair of photoelectric conversion element columns 1L and 1R. The columns 1L and 1R respectively photoelectrically convert a pair of object images formed by a photometric optical system arranged while having base length. Right and left image information is nearly simultaneously outputted corresponding to each other from each end part. The image information output from the part 1 is given to a main object detecting part 2. The part 2 detects the main object image based on the image information output from the part 1, and the image deviation amount of the main object image is calculated.
