PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a differential gear by lightening its differential case, imparting high abrasion resistance to sliding portions thereof on differential rotary members, and improving the dimensional accuracy and thus machinability of each component part. SOLUTION: A differential gear comprises a bevel gear type differential gear mechanism 33 having pinion gears 25 on the input side and side gears 27 and 29 on the output side, and a differential case 3 housing the mechanism. The differential case 3 is constituted by slide members 7, 7 on which the side gears 27 and 29 slide, and a differential case body 5. The slide members 7 are made of iron system material of high abrasion resistance, while the differential case body 5 is cast in light metal system cast material, at which casting the slide members 7, 7 are cast at their predetermined positions.
