Preparation of neutral taste plant-based carrier materials for food additives

A process for the preparation of carrier materials (M) of plant origin for foodstuff additives contains the following steps :(a) fibrous pieces of plants or seeds are left to swell in an aqueous medium ; (b) the swollen material is crushed ; (c) an aqueous medium is used to extract the crushed material ; and (d) the crushed material is pressed and dried. Steps (a) and (b) may be carried out in series. Also claimed are (i) (M) prepared by this process and (ii) mixtures (M`) comprising (M) and foodstuff additives.
