The antenna (17) is laid out from the underwater vessel via a delivery tube (19) providing guidance on the vessel from the storage location. A drive mechanism includes a number of inflow nozzles (21) passing through the wall (192) of the delivery tube, producing a water stream directed towards the exit end of the delivery tube between the inside wall (192a) of the delivery tube and the outer sheath (171) of the trailing antenna. The nozzles may be connected to at least one high-pressure water pump (22) and the inflow nozzles are positioned with their openings (211) in the wall of the delivery tube and with the opening axes at an acute angle to the axis of the delivery tube.
