The device comprises a U-shaped support (1) in which the safety belt (13) is secured by an inserted clamp (2,6a,6b) extending at least over the width of the belt. The clamp is fastened directly or indirectly by an intermediate support or side walls at least to the base (14) of the U-shaped support. The side walls (8,9) are designed to deform when a specific force acts through the belt and is so stiff that the impact forces on the belt are absorbed by lateral bending or deforming of the side walls. The clamp and-or a securing part may be provided to fix the clamp member and are made of plastics material.
