The device has a housing (2) with at least one gas-permeable opening and a connection piece (3) for fluid connection with the waste disposal unit, and is located inside of the building, next to the ventilated waste disposal unit. The device has a filter unit (11) for the prevention of an odour nuisance from the waste disposal unit, which partly fills the housing. The filter comprises a loose or packed balas, such as activated charcoal. The housing has a cylindrical configuration with top and bottom plates (5,6) and a cylindrical surface (9). The bottom plate is perforated to permit the escape of gases while preventing the escape of the balas.
