The reservoir comprises a tubular passage at one end of which (26) cold water is entered and also branched off and at the other end (25) hot water leaves and is tapped off for use. The boiler (1) is fed by a pipe (11) and returns heated water through a pipe (10) to a heat exchanger (18) by means of a pump (3). The secondary circuit consists of a hot water inlet (16) to the reservoir (29) with a warm water outlet (15) for domestic use. The reservoir comprises horizontal tubes (27) connected in series with bends (28). Temperature control is by thermostats (17,20,24). In the lower region the reservoir has a cold water inlet (14) through a valve (30) and a branch outlet (23) and circulation pump (21) to the heat exchanger (18). Operation of the pump draws cold water from the bottom of the reservoir to be heated in the heat exchanger and the control system brings the boiler into operation.
