Vibration damper with variable steam power

The vibration damper includes a cylinder filed with a damping substance, in which a piston rod and its piston can move axially. The piston forms two working cavities. The damping valve is dependent on pressure. Its damping force can be altered by means of an actuator relative to a spring force on a locking valve body. There is an inlet valve (55) in series with the damping valve (37). The effect of the variable damping vale is overlaid with that of the inlet valve. The damping valve is controlled by a preliminary stage valve (65) and is connected via an aperture (43a) to a control cavity (51).
