Load measuring system for commercial vehicle

A load measuring system for a commercial vehicle employs load sensors (7a,7b) at both front (25) and rear (20) axles. The amplified signals are amplified (41a,41b) are received by a control unit (40) which also has inputs from sensors confirming brake operation (46) and whether the vehicle is moving or stationary (47). An arithmetic unit (50) evaluates the combined sprung weight of the vehicle and its load, for display (42) to the loader or driver. A memory (52b) contains the fixed unsprung weight data for the gross weight display, where required. The weights are only displayed after ensuring that the vehicle is stationary, to eliminate acceleration forces, and there is a 10 second delay after stopping, to eliminate braking vibrations.
