Guide rail for saw chain

The guide rail (1) has a groove (8) in the edge side for the saw chain (4), and a slot (2) for fitting it to the chain saw, extending in the longitudinal direction. Its closed end (2a), facing the other end of the rail, runs into a curve in the form of an arc of circle. The guide rail has a longitudinal recess (13,13*) in it, with its longitudinal axis (12,12*) in the longitudinal central plane (2A) of the slot, and the a curve at least at the end facing the other end of the rail. From maximum extent, the curve passes from being orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the recess via a constant transition curvature (11b) into an arc curve (11a).
