The multi-media computer system 10 has a built-in CD-ROM drive 14 and a floppy disc drive 16. The computer is connected to a mouse 24, a keyboard 22 and a monitor 26. Interface connectors are provided for a network 25 and a telephone line 21. The system has a multi-media controller 20 having a program that results in peripheral control signals being generated to operate drive stages.
