A trap for an animal, comprising an elongate hollow body defining an elongate cavity, a closure at each end of the cavity, wherein the said closures are adapted to permit entry by an animal to the cavity and to close behind the animal to prevent rearwards egress of the animal from the cavity, and an obturator which is able to move from end to end within the cavity and to restrict access by the animal to the said closure remote from the point of entry of the animal.
