Protective sleeve for circular information media

The protective sleeve has plates (1,2) arranged on both sides of the circular information carrier, bounded by circular edges (12a,12b). Along the circular edges, the plates have a joint extending at least to the region of the diameter of an insertable information carrier (6). At least one of the plates has a layer (10) of material which is protective to the information medium, on its inner surface facing the information medium. The edges have an inner boundary along their joint, in the direction of a central point.
