Interconnection method for sheathed electrical wires having conductive connection points

The pair of insulated electrical wires (W1,W2) are overlapped and placed in the gap between a pair of disc-shaped plastic elements 13,15 that are pressed together. The discs have profiled half-round channels 23,33 that are sized to fit around the wires. In the centre of the top disc is a centre projection 21a that fits in a recess 31a in the base. The discs are axially loaded and are exposed to an ultrasonic welding device causing the surfaces and insulation to melt to allow the wire cores to come into contact. The plastic then subsequently hardens to form a seal.
