<p>In the production of ice lolly bodies which are dipped into a coating material it is known to use special gripping tongs for gripping the carrier stick projecting from the ice bodies. The gripping has to be very safe, and it is customary to use spring loaded pivot link systems which, in being folded over a dead centre position, cause a jaw portion to smack against a backing plate (10) for the stick, whereby the ice bodies are normally clamped safely enough. It is experienced, however, that springs may spring off with highly undesired consequences, and according to the invention it has been recognized that it is not necessary to use clamp spring means at all. When care is taken that the sticks (18) are supported by mutually separated support portions (20, 22) of the said backing plate (10), then the clamping jaw (28) can be moved into a fixed clamping position between these support portions, such that it clamps the stick to be bent, whereby the proper resiliency of the stick will secure a firm gripping. In practice it is then possible to make use of a stiff and robust pivot arm system (12, 14, 28).</p> |
