<p>A voltage boost circuit (40) within a hard disk drive is realized by switching a center tap node (24CT) of a three phase spindle motor (16) to ground during a power down sequence, thereby employing inductance of the spindle motor (16) as a voltage boost inductor. The boosted voltage is rectified and stored in a capacitor (46) for use, e.g., to control a source transistor (114) of an actuator driver (36) during an actuator retract operation.</p> |
