An arrangement for detecting and evaluating yawing movements of a motor vehicle used as an input quantity for a motor vehicle control system comprises yaw rate sensors (GRS) and electronic circuits (SCU) to prepare and evaluate the data obtained by the yaw rate sensors (GRS) representing the yawing movement of the motor vehicle and to generate control signals. There are also one or more electronic compass systems (KB, KH) which detect yawing of the motor vehicle independently of the data obtained from the yaw rate sensors (GRS). The operation of the measuring systems or channels (KB, KH, GRS) is monitored by comparing the data from the compass systems (KB, KH) with those from the yaw rate sensors (GRS).
