<p>The present invention is a method of flowing resin from an inlet opening (7) and a sealed mold (18, 19) into a lay up (36) which is comprised of at least one top layer of absorbing or reinforcing material (5) which defines a passage or hole (15) from the inlet opening (7) to a non-absorbing layer (2) which non-absorbing layer (2) lies above at least one bottom layer of reinforcing material (4). This process comprises flowing the resin from the inlet opening (7) into the mold then through the passage as defined by the top reinforcing layer (5) through the non-absorbing layer (2) and then through channels (3) defined by the non-absorbing layer (2) throughout the mold lay up (36). The most simple embodiment of the product embodying this is to have a substantially non-absorbing layer (2) which defines at least one channel (3) for serving as a conduit for resin to move throughout the volume, a top layer of renforcing material (5) defining a non-absorbing passage (15) from a resin inlet (7) in the mold (18, 19) to the non-absorbing layer (2) and a bottom layer of reinforcing material (4) opposite the non-absorbing layer (2) from the top layer of reinforcing material (5) so that the non-absorbing layer (2) is sandwiched between the top layer (5) and the bottom layer (4) so that resin can flow into and through the passage (15) to the non-absorbing layer (2) and then throughout the non-absorbing layer (2) and back up into the top absorbing reinforcing layer (5) and down into the bottom absorbing reinforcing layer (4).</p> |
