The invention relates to a vice with a basic structure (1), a stationary jaw (4) attached to said basic structure, and a slide (2) clamping against the jaw and displaceably guided on the basic structure in a straight line. Replaceable jaw members (4, 5) between which a workpiece is held are arranged on opposing sides of the slide and the stationary jaw. The jaw elements are consequently arranged on the slide and the clamping jaw to rotate about a common axis (X) extending parallel to the direction of displacement of the slide, and are mounted in such a manner that it is also possible to rotate the jaw elements even under the action of the clamping forces engaging on the jaw elements when the workpiece is clamped, and at least one of the jaw elements can be fixed in a plurality of rotating positions by a locking device (10-13).
