Fixing sheet-metal blanks during cold-forming operations

The apparatus is intended for fixing a sheet-metal blank (1) during cold forming in a hydraulic or pneumatic press (2) incorporating a press bar (3) which is vertically movable and carries a metal top tool body (4) with a top clamping surface(6) at its bottom (5). The apparatus has a top clamping surface clamps immovably to a lower clamping surface (9) - which form part of the body (8) of a metal bottom tool - those regions (10) of the blank which do not participate in the forming process. Also claimed is a corresponding method to be used.
