The present invention relates to a roll bar and a crane device comprising a first leg member (12) and a second leg member (14) both of which are attachable to a vehicle. An elongate lifting member (76) is provided which defines a first and a second end region (102 and 100), the first end region (102) being releasably attached to the first leg member (12) and the second end region (100) being releasably attached to the second leg member (14) to allow the lifting member (76) to pivot at that end. The device (10) also includes an elongate flexible member (132) extending along at least part of the lifting member (76), the elongate flexible member (132) to be extended and retracted along the lifting member (76) thus allowing the device to operate as a crane when the first end region (102) of the lifting member (76) is released from the first leg member (12) and allowing the device to operate as a roll bar when the first end region (102) is attached to the first leg member (12).
