Method for distilling hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane

Distillation of a crude blend of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane and higher cyclopolysiloxanes comprises (I) mixing the crude blend with a hydrocarbon co-solvent having a normal b.pt. of 125-150[deg]C; and (II) distilling the mixture formed in (I) in an apparatus comprising a reboiler, a fractionating column and a condenser, wherein a solution of the hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane in the co-solvent is separated from the higher cyclopolysiloxanes and deposition of solid hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane in the condenser is essentially prevented.
