<p>A method of utilizing a demand printer (60) having a printhead (84) for printing on tickets (508) etc., includes the sets of: transferring command signals into a control circuit means (108); processing said signals by circuit means (108); energizing a portion of said printhead (84); delivering said ticket (508) etc., to said printhead (84), and; printing indicia on said ticket (508) etc., including using double data loading in a thermal printhead (610), a register (618) and circuit means (614) for energizing heating elements (612), said double data loading comprising serially shifting out data corresponding to the last line of information; combining shifted out data with in-coming print line data corresponding to a next line of information; serially shifting a compensation load into said register (618); controlling energization of elements (612); selecting a print load; serially shifting said load into said register (618); applying a strobe signal to circuit means (614); controlling energization of elements (612) in response to said strobe signal only if a bit of said print load is a bit for causing energization of an element (612). The invention also includes a demand printer (60) for carrying out the above method.</p> |
