Method and system for fire detection

The method involves selecting a secondary spectral band in the near infra red. The band is characteristic of restoration of a state of upper parts of vegetation in a given zone. A composite image obtained from encoding colours and superimposing images obtained in three spectral bands is formed. The image indicates risks of fire in a given zone. A combination of primary and secondary spectral band signals are used to produce an image characteristic of areas of vegetation which appear to be drier. A third band, in the infra red, is used so as to obtain a synthetic image indicating areas most at risk.
